Survival Aesthetics © Video Interview Series, ‘On Behalf of Other People’ was created as part of Hogan’s Doctoral Higher Degree Research Exhibition work, 2019. The video interviews profile artists and curators in various institutional, independent and unique artistic environments of Tokyo. The series of documentary style interview observations cinematically shot by Mitsuo Abe under Hogan’s direction contain conversations and dialogues investigating critical issues of art practice that are relevant both in Japan and abroad. Featuring some of Japan’s leading artists, curators and academics, the undercurrent of the interview questions are based on how artists and art practices will survive in the changing face of contemporary culture in the 21st Century.
